Hello, Nonexistent Readers! (Unless, of course, you are someone and you are reading this and therefore existent. Know that I meant no offense. It's just that as of now I currently have no readers' because my blog was lacking--or lost--and now is updated--or found. Whichever).
My goal here is to update my blog with Africa info regarding my upcoming Missions' Trip to Ethiopia and Uganda this summer. For those of you who don't know, I've never been on a plane, this is my first missions' trip, and I've never left the country (a result of never being on a plane). This is also the first time I will spend over three days away from my family. We're very close, so it'll be hard. Hopefully my missions' family and African orphans will help. Also, I'm going to be working A LOT, so I probably won't have time between work, eating, sleeping, work, eating, sleeping, work, bathing, eating, sleeping, and more work. I will have you know that I'm excited and not nearly as scared as I should be (I blame my naivete).
As you may notice, the title of my blog has been changed from "Queen Alyssa" to "Alyssa's Missions {Africa}". The URL will remain Queen Alyssa, but otherwise, prepare for change! The new title is Alyssa's Missions, and my current mission is Africa. What it will be after July 3rd, when I return from two weeks abroad, well...I'll let God make that choice. It could be as simple as just making it through the rest of the summer (preferably in bed after that trip).
As you might soon realize if you go to read my early posts, most of my entries are of my randomly (and occasionally) humorous ramblings (i.e., not all that worth reading unless you want to learn about and Mini Coopers and Pizza. Or laugh about them, I should say.)
It's funny, reading over my old blogs, but early last summer I wanted to make money to go on a missions' trip. But honestly? I had no idea WHERE that missions' trip would be!! And now I'm going to Africa. It's crazy how God works, let me tell you.
So my home is almost put together again after we had the flood back on Dec. 30. FINALLY!! Currently most everything is packed up and piled in the living room. But otherwise, we're close.
Yesterday, as you might have read, we remodeled a widow's home for a friend's adoption fundraiser. All went well, and, in spite of my exhaustion, I managed to help out some. Good, long day.
Today was spent getting my Silver Award from Girl Scouts. Yay!! Finally, after months of waiting, we finally have the award (we finished last summer). Afterwards, my sister, my neighbor (otherwise known as our fourth sibling), and I went outside and played in mud. Yep--MUD! We jumped, stomped, kicked, threw, rolled, sat, ran, splashed, and danced in mud. I felt like a kid again, and I have NEVER been so muddy in my life!
It's late, and I'm tired. Happy blogging.
Signing off,
-Alyssa
